Plagiarism Policy
The International Journal of Economic Practices and Theories (IJEPT) maintains a zero-tolerance policy toward plagiarism in any form. Upholding academic integrity is a fundamental principle of our editorial and peer review process. All submissions must be original and free from any form of unauthorized or unacknowledged use of others’ work.
1. Definition of Plagiarism
Plagiarism includes, but is not limited to:
-
Direct Plagiarism: Copying text, ideas, images, or data from another source without proper citation.
-
Self-Plagiarism (Redundant Publication): Republishing one’s own previously published work without acknowledgement or citation.
-
Mosaic Plagiarism: Mixing copied material from multiple sources, even if each source is cited.
-
Paraphrasing Plagiarism: Rewriting someone else’s ideas or findings in your own words without attribution.
2. Plagiarism Detection
All manuscripts submitted to IJEPT are screened using reliable plagiarism detection software (e.g., Turnitin, iThenticate, or equivalent tools). The editorial team checks for:
-
Similarity index percentages
-
Improper citations
-
Unattributed text or data reuse
Submissions with a similarity index exceeding 15% (excluding references and common phrases) may be returned for revision or rejected outright, depending on the extent and nature of the duplication.
3. Author Responsibility
Authors are fully responsible for ensuring that their manuscript is free from plagiarism before submission. This includes:
-
Citing all sources appropriately
-
Rewriting content in their own words where necessary
-
Avoiding reuse of their previously published material without clear acknowledgment
If content from a previous publication by the same authors is included, it must be clearly cited and justified.
4. Consequences of Plagiarism
If plagiarism is detected at any stage—before or after publication—the following actions will be taken:
-
Before publication:
-
Manuscript will be rejected immediately.
-
Authors may be blacklisted from future submissions for a fixed term.
-
-
After publication:
-
A formal retraction notice will be issued.
-
The article will be removed from the journal's archive if appropriate.
-
Authors’ affiliated institutions may be notified.
-
IJEPT reserves the right to take further action based on the severity and intent behind the plagiarism.
5. Appeals and Clarifications
Authors who believe a plagiarism decision was made in error may appeal by providing a written explanation and supporting documentation. Appeals will be reviewed by the Editor-in-Chief and members of the editorial board.
6. Educational Support
IJEPT encourages academic integrity by:
-
Providing resources and examples of proper citation practices
-
Offering editorial feedback to authors for minor, unintentional issues
-
Working with early-career researchers to raise awareness of ethical standards
