Main Article Content
Abstract
This study examines the impact of education level and industry sector on job satisfaction among family business owners across Europe. Using data from an extensive survey of 1,200 owners in 12 countries, the research applies hierarchical and moderated regression analyses to examine how these factors individually and collectively impact owner wellbeing. The results indicate that higher education is associated with higher job satisfaction, particularly in technology-driven and service industries, where advanced skills align with sector needs. The study merges perspectives from socioemotional wealth, human capital, and industry structure to provide new insights into family business dynamics. Findings emphasise the importance of creating tailored educational and support programs that are responsive to industry contexts, thereby boosting owner satisfaction and supporting the sustainable growth of family businesses. This research contributes to social economics by focusing on owner-centred outcomes and considering the diversity of European institutions, with implications for policymakers and practitioners seeking to enhance the resilience of family enterprises.
