Abstract

This study investigates customer perception towards digital banking services in the Tiruchirappalli District, a region experiencing significant growth in digital financial services. The rapid evolution of technology has ushered in a new era of banking, where traditional banking practices are increasingly complemented or even replaced by digital solutions. This research aims to explore how customers in Tiruchirappalli perceive various digital banking services, including online banking, mobile applications, and electronic payment systems. To achieve this, a comprehensive survey was conducted, employing a structured questionnaire distributed among a diverse sample of bank customers in the district. The data collected were subjected to quantitative analysis, revealing insights into customer attitudes, satisfaction levels, and the factors influencing their adoption of digital banking services. The findings indicate that convenience, accessibility, and security are paramount in shaping customer perceptions. Moreover, demographic factors such as age, education, and income significantly influence how different segments of the population engage with digital banking platforms. Customers expressed a high level of satisfaction with the speed and efficiency of digital transactions, although concerns regarding security and privacy remain prevalent. The study highlights the necessity for banks to enhance their digital offerings and address customer apprehensions regarding security to foster greater adoption and trust in digital banking services. Furthermore, the research underscores the importance of financial literacy and awareness in enhancing customer engagement with digital banking, suggesting that targeted educational initiatives could play a vital role in improving customer perceptions and, consequently, the overall success of digital banking initiatives in the region. By providing a nuanced understanding of customer perceptions, this study contributes to the existing literature on digital banking and offers practical insights for banking institutions aiming to optimize their digital service strategies in the Tiruchirappalli District and similar markets.
